Datacap's Capture Conference In September
Strong Customer and Partner Turnout
Datacap customers, channel and technology partners will gather September 25th
and 26th at the first Datacap Capture Conference. The Conference site is the
former Duke estate, which is now a full-service, luxury Conference Center, near
Datacap headquarters in Tarrytown, New York.
The idyllic setting will be an excellent environment to exchange ideas,
share techniques and learn new ways to maximize the value of Datacap solutions.
Joining Datacap will be Platinum sponsors Panasonic, Canon, Bowe Bell + Howell,
Kodak, Fujitsu, DocFinity, and Westbrook. Gold sponsors include Hyland,
Filebound, Kofax, Oce, Parascript and Visioneer.
There's a full curriculum of technical and operating sessions, designed for
users of Taskmaster, Taskmaster Web, Taskmaster for Medical Claims,
HCcs and Taskmaster for Invoices. Attendance could lead to thousands of
dollars in cost savings, enhanced productivity and improved processes.
The highly-informative sessions will include case studies presented by
Datacap users, technically-oriented how-to segments, and the latest trends in
scanning, recognition, document ID and ECM, according to our
partners. Whether you are a business manager or an IT-type, you will take
away valuable tips you can use immediately.
The keynote speaker is Pamela Doyle of Fujitsu, who serves as chairperson for
both the TWAIN Working Group and the AIIM North American Advisory Trade
Membership Board. Ms. Doyle will present a comprehensive look at Enterprise
Content Management today and the valuable ways that organizations are
applying it to enhance competitiveness and productivity.
After a full day of sessions, we'll take over the beautiful grounds and mansion
for the best food and drink New York State has to offer, and then party
into the night with the cast and musicians of a new off-Broadway musical (with
belly dancers!).
Don't miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge of capture, share your
experiences with other users, and help shape the direction of Datacap future
products. Additional Datacap users and resellers are signing up, but space
is limited, so make plans soon to be a part of this
exciting event. More info, click here.

Invoice Scanning and Capture Survey
Datacap, Fujitsu and IOMA Survey is First to Measure Usage, Benefits, and
Obstacles - Results Available September 5th
Where does your Accounts Payable department stand on scanning and OCR? For an
up-to-the-minute comparison with 400 organizations, request a free copy
of the latest survey to
cover this rapidly-evolving territory. "Invoice Scanning and Capture Survey" is
to be released September 5, 2006. Sponsored by Datacap, Fujitsu and
IOMA (Institute of Management Administration), the 15-page document is packed with the latest
data on imaging and OCR in Accounts Payable.
For example,
among the interesting facts revealed:
* Average cost
to process an invoice manually is $24, though costs
ranged from .22 cents to $350 per
invoice.
* AP
departments that are scanning and capturing data save an
average of 40%
* More than 50% of
respondents said their current invoice processing system is
inefficient
The survey
portrays a department in transition,
from a paper-intensive back-office process to
a strategic asset providing real-time visibility into an organization's financial
performance.

report, send an e-mail to marketing@datacap.com.

Datacap Breaks the Document Separation Barrier
Partnership
with Content Analyst Company
Delivers Advanced Document Classification and Search
Capabilities
Content Analyst Company, LLC is a Reston, Virginia-based company with a unique
technology, known as content analytics, which delivers advanced search
capabilities similar, but superior, to those used by Google® and other Internet
search engines. Developed for the Federal government to enable
terror and fraud detection, it turns out that content
analytics is the best solution yet for accurate document
classification.
When hosted in Taskmaster Web
Service, Content Analyst's solution can be used both
to match specific document types and to build a user's search
repository for context-sensitive searches. Datacap and Content
Analyst Company will offer these capabilities to end users and
industry partners to enhance their ECM solutions.
This technology is being closely tracked by industry research leader, Gartner Inc.
"Organizations know that unstructured content is valuable and are developing
enterprise content management architectures and strategies," according to Karen
Shegda, Gartner's Research Director for Document and Content Management. "Since
the value of unstructured content is lost if that content is not organized and
searchable, information extraction and content analytics technologies will gain
increasing importance in Enterprise Content Management suites as organizations
look to put content in context."
"We are particularly pleased to be working with a document capture industry leader like
Datacap," says Bob Liscouski, President and CEO of Content Analyst Company,
LLC. "Because our advanced text analytics technology provides a superior
document categorization capability, our partnership with Datacap will result in
new levels of automation, accuracy, with minimal set-up and administration for
end-users and channel partners."

Tips and Tricks
Use
UNC Paths Instead of Map Drives in Windows 2003 With Datacap Executive
Service
Here's
something you probably already know: Success sometimes demands a
little extra effort. Case in point: Microsoft does not support
accessing mapped drives from a Service in Windows 2003. For this reason,
whenever possible, use UNC (Universal Naming Convention) paths instead when
configuring Datacap Executive Service. Yes, there's a bit more work involved,
but the result will be more stable and scalable.
However,
if you insist on using Map Drives with the Taskmaster Server and Client
Services, Datacap has a workaround (visit the Datacap
Support site and download the Technical Note: "Drive Letter Mapping For
Services").
