"Cycle Faster" Benefit for the Lance Armstrong Foundation

Join Datacap's Program to Support Cancer Research

Datacap and our industry partners, including AIIM, are working together to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The program features some unique, fun activities at AIIM in Philadelphia, but you can be a part, whether you are attending AIIM or not.

Bikeathon/Walkathon May 15

Datacap is kicking off AIIM Week (May 15-18) with a Bikeathon/Walkathon on Monday May 15 at 5 PM in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. If you're going to AIIM, make plans to arrive in Philadelphia by Monday afternoon, so you can join us to walk or ride, beginning at 5 PM. You can sign up or pledge online at http://cyclefaster.datacap.com.

The Bikeathon/Walkathon will be followed by a reception at the Bishop's Collar, right next to the park.

Broad Sponsor Support

"Cycle Faster" sponsors include Bowe Bell + Howell, Stellent, Fujitsu, FileNet, Kodak, Panasonic, ABBYY, Canon, Captaris, Captiva, DocuWare, Hyland OnBase, Oce, Parascript, Snowbound, and Soluziona. AIIM is supporting the program with a variety of communications vehicles and the Philadelphia bike shop Bicycle Therapy will be providing equipment and cycling expertise.

"The breadth of participation we've seen from our partners shows the generous spirit of our industry," said Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. "We often work together to help organizations process documents. Now we're working together to raise funds and awareness for an excellent cause."

Cycling Competition on AIIM Exhibit Floor

During the AIIM Expo, May 16-18, Datacap's booth (#212) will be the scene of some exciting competition on a racing bike attached to a virtual trainer. Each sponsor is sending riders to compete to have the largest donation to the Lance Armstrong Foundation made in their company's name. Datacap will be raffling off custom "Cycle Faster" jerseys to attendees at the show, and both attendees and those who pledge on-line could be the winner of a $2000 road bike.

Datacap Customer Survey Results

Our Year End Questionnaire Reveals Capture Trends

Thanks to all who took a few minutes to complete Datacap's latest Customer Survey. As always, the survey was informative and identified some very interesting trends. For example, almost 70% of respondents indicated that their document volume increased in 2005 - so much for the "paperless" office.

Remote scanning via the Internet is clearly taking hold. Almost 45% reported that they have added distributing scanning to their implementation.

Wide Range of Documents

Taskmaster's versatility was reinforced by the wide range of document types indicated in the survey (See figure below).

Datacap customers are using Taskmaster to process a wide variety of document types.  How many does your organization process?

Cost Savings Not The Prime Driver

When asked to prioritize the benefits of a capture system, Productivity and Data Accuracy were rated "Extremely Important," 83% and 87% respectively, while Cost Savings scored 62%. Additional support for the lesser importance of cost savings is found in the response to whether users had measured payback in their Taskmaster investment; 93% had not.

The majority of Datacap users would like to participate in a Datacap User Group, and more than 70% are interested in attending an annual User Group Conference. Stay tuned for news of a Datacap User Group and Conference later in 2006. If you'd like to participate in an advisory role, help shape the conference agenda, or present, please send an e-mail to marketing@datacap.com.

Survey Winners

Winners of an American Express $100 gift certificate are: Sandra Smith of the American College of Physicians, Tom Richards of HomEq, Jeff Ashton from SIRVA, and Rebecca Lenk of Southern Connecticut Gas.

New Support Knowledge Base

An Online Resource for Datacap Customers and Resellers to Use and Enhance

Datacap has added a new feature to the Datacap Support website: a Knowledge Base that covers some user issues that might not be covered or is difficult to locate in the User Manuals. You can view the topics in the Knowledge Base overview or use the Search feature if you need to locate an answer quickly.

The Knowledge Base will continue to evolve, with periodic updates and additions by Datacap. If you have gained knowledge from your experience working with Datacap that you think might help others, click on the "Suggest An Entry" tab and let us hear it.

"Ideally, the Knowledge Base will take on a life of its own," says Noel Kropf, Datacap Chief Technology Officer. "Most of this knowledge has been gained from customer experiences. Now there's a resource that's always available to the community of Datacap users that they can check when they need answers fast."

Datacap customers and resellers use the Datacap Support website to learn about their implementation, request help, and report information. The website is accessible by Datacap customers and resellers with a password.  www.datacap.com/support.

New 1500 Health Claim Support Well Ahead Of Deadline

June 2006 Availability Planned

As part of HIPAA's new regulations for the handling of medical data, all medical claims will require a National Provider Identifier (NPI) by May 2007. To make space for the NPI, the famous pink form, often known as the HCFA 1500, has been redesigned and will debut in October 2006 as the 1500 Health Insurance Claim Form, (sometimes called the CMS 1500 form). Organizations will process both old and new 1500s for several months, and then the old HCFA 1500 will be phased out completely early in 2007.

All Datacap customers who process medical claims can be assured that Datacap Taskmaster for Medical Claims and its predecessor Datacap Health Claims capture system (HCcs) will support the new 1500 form well before the October start date.

Datacap customers running Taskmaster for Medical Claims will have a new release by June 2006, which will offer dual 1500 support.  Most HCcs users will be able to use the update to the Taskmaster 6.1 version of HCcs, also to be released in June.

Datacap customers under maintenance will receive the updated Taskmaster HCcs, and Taskmaster for Medical Claims software free of charge.  Existing applications will require changes to recognition, validation, verification panels, and export. Datacap will provide sample applications, a checklist, and guidance to help customers identify what changes are needed in their applications.  Datacap can be engaged to assist with implementation and testing of these changes. Once the updated software is installed and applications are updated as needed, users will be able to scan old and new forms intermixed in a batch.

If you have any questions about the new 1500 form and your implementation, send an e-mail to info@datacap.com. You can learn more about medical claims on the website for the National Uniform Claim Commitee by clicking here.
