Taskmaster 7 Nears Release

Major Upgrade to Debut at AIIM

Taskmaster 7 is a major upgrade of Datacap's award-winning capture and forms processing software. Taskmaster 7 leverages Taskmaster's established client/server architecture, while introducing new elements that demonstrate Datacap's commitment to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Web Services

The Rulerunner Service and Datacap Studio, the accompanying controller program, expose procedural rules for document capture automation via a Web Services model. Customers will be able to run rules from within Taskmaster, as well as from external environments for image enhancement; automatic document classification; best-of-breed OCR, ICR, OMR and barcode recognition; automated validations; and rapid export of data to all industry-standard formats.

.NET Support

Taskmaster Web, included with Taskmaster 7, was re-implemented using Microsoft .NET. All popular browsers, including Firefox, Opera, and others will now be supported for indexing and monitoring capture workflows. The Browser user interface can easily be customized with the Datacap Panel Designer.

Invoices Even Easier

For customers processing invoices and other accounts payable documents, Taskmaster 7 includes Dynamic Natural Analysis (DNA) specifically developed for highly-variable document capture. DNA eliminates invoice set-up and enables single-pass verification for both known and unknown invoice layouts. This speeds implementation and reduces ongoing maintenance. All detail line items for a new invoice layout can be captured and stored after the user has identified the first line item, further streamlining the set-up process.

Taskmaster 7 will begin shipping April 16, 2007.

New Quick Demo Online: Taskmaster for Invoices

Product Manager Tom Stuart demonstrates the latest features

For Accounts Payable departments, the processing task that involves the most manual labor is the data entry of Invoice Date, Invoice Number, Totals, Vendor ID, PO and Detail Lines. Datacap Taskmaster for Invoices automates this tedious chore with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and a number of new, innovative features built especially for invoices.

In this short online webinar, Tom Stuart, Product Manager for Taskmaster for Invoices, shows the new capabilities available to AP operators - including Dynamic Details and Intellocate - to verify data accuracy and streamline the entire process.

Datacap and Partners Kick Off "Cycle Faster B2B 2007" at AIIM Expo

Third Annual Fundraising Effort to Top Previous Years combined!

If you're going to AIIM this year (April 16-19, Boston Convention Center), bring your cycling shoes and look for the Datacap booth (2539). It will be easy to find us - we'll be the booth with the cheering crowds and the clanging cowbells. For the third year running, Datacap's "Cycle Faster" program will be promoting the sport of cycling and raising awareness and funds for some important causes. This year, Datacap and its Cycle Faster sponsoring partners will be supporting the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Since its inception in 2005, Cycle Faster has contributed more than $30,000. The goal this year is to beat that number.

Datacap is joined by the leading enterprise content management (ECM) industry partners: Fujitsu, EMC/Captiva, Böwe Bell & Howell, AIIM, Panasonic, Océ, Visioneer, ABBYY, Canon, Captaris, DocuWare, Kodak, Kofax, Parascript and Snowbound Software.

Due to the popularity of the program, the duration of Cycle Faster has been extended this year to include fund-raising events at two major ECM industry events. Playing off the business-to-business (B2B) focus of the industry, events will extend from the AIIM Expo in Boston to the ARMA Expo in Baltimore. The events coincide at the beginning (April 16-19) and end (October 7-10) of the cycling season.

Opening Reception at AIIM

Cycle Faster B2B 2007 begins in Boston with a reception and press conference. All sponsors and Cycle Faster donors are invited to attend the kick-off celebration on Monday, April 16, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Boston's legendary Durgin-Park restaurant, (340 Faneuil Hall Marketplace). AIIM attendees can attend for a tax-deductible donation of $10.

"Each year, Cycle Faster has exceeded our expectations in the contributions we have been able to make - and in the enthusiasm of ECM industry sponsors. We are proud to bring our industry together for important causes outside of day-to-day business activities," said Scott Blau, Datacap CEO and an avid cyclist. "I am pledging to ride five times the distance between Boston and Baltimore this summer, 2000 miles, raising at least $1 per mile."

AIIM Booth Competition

Cycle Faster B2B 2007 will include a three-day competition among sponsors at the AIIM Expo. Each sponsor can enter three male and three female riders, who will strive to post the best time on a one-mile virtual course. The top male and female competitors will have donations made in their companies' names.

AIIM attendees can monitor rider progress on the virtual course, live on screen in the booth, and can enter to win a free road bike to be raffled off on the final day of the exhibition. A donation kiosk will be available for attendees to make contributions and receive LIVESTRONG t-shirts or wristbands. Competitors will also have an opportunity to make the fastest time in the "open" competition or pledge to ride 400 miles prior to ARMA in October.

Custom cycling jerseys and t-shirts, both featuring sponsor logos, will also be distributed to AIIM attendees throughout the day.

Tips and Tricks

Windows Authentication Streamlines Log-in Process

With Taskmaster 6.5, you can simplify the log-in process to a single sign-on with a Windows password at start up and Taskmaster can be launched without needing an additional log-in. Taskmaster 7 takes this a step further by enabling you to create and manage groups.

Here's what you do. In the Taskmaster Client window, select the Administrator icon (golden key), click on the Users tab, select "Add" and type in the user's Windows log-in ID. Click the Set Password button and choose the Windows Authentication button. Do this for each user and they'll skip the Taskmaster log-in.

For more information on Windows Authentication in Taskmaster 6.5, look at the Taskmaster Administrator Guide, Chapter 5, page 6.
