Datacap Wordfire Classify Enters Beta
Extending Taskmaster's traditional document recognition
capabilities with a unique, self-learning, content analytics engine
In November, Wordfire Classify
enters beta testing in preparation for general release. We invite our customers
to join the Datacap Wordfire Classify beta program and begin to reap the
benefits of this unique classification capability.
Wordfire Classify delivers
true human-like content analysis to the document classification process.
Classifying, or separating documents into categories based on content is often
a manual process for preparing scanned paper documents for routing and
processing. Using technology developed for the US intelligence community, Wordfire
Classify goes the next step beyond traditional OCR/ICR, image analysis and
keyword or phrase identification. Wordfire Classify reads documents
looking for patterns, concepts and associations just like how a person analyzes
documents, and stores the results mathematically. Just start using Wordfire
Classify and it analyzes and learns your different documents. After a short
while it understands the entire range of document types and will very
accurately classified documents.
Wordfire Classify excels at
classifying documents contain significant amounts of text, such as
correspondence, legal proceedings and many types of mortgage documents. These
documents often are not in a fixed format and may not contain key fields,
making them difficult to classify using traditional classification methods.
Wordfire Classify can also eliminate manual pre-sorting, insertion of
separator pages or adding barcodes, when processing batches of mixed document
types.

Second Annual Capture Conference Celebrates Capture
Independence
Datacap Community Gathers to Share
Knowledge
Datacap's second annual User
Conference convened September 9 at the luxurious Tarrytown House and Estate in
Tarrytown, NY. More than 100 Datacap end users, resellers and technology
partners spent the next 48 hours exploring every aspect of capture.
At the recent annual Capture
Conference, attendees learned about a wide variety of industry issues.
Topics included trends in scanning and how to maximize character recognition
accuracy and implementation challenges. Additionally, case studies that were
presented provided an overview of how capture software is utilized, including
bio-terrorism preparedness, medical claims capture, and invoice automation.
Datacap clients, including
ExxonMobil, Sharp Healthcare and Virginia Department of Taxation, among others,
provided detailed analyses on how their organizations successfully utilize a
combination of technologies to increase their productivity with automated data
solutions.
State of the industry Document capture analyst Harvey
Spencer gave attendees a snapshot of the industry and provided insight into its
future.
One hundred twelve million tons of paper are
generated each year in printing and writing paper. The number is staggering.
How can business leaders encourage a decrease in the usage of paper while
maintaining costs? The answer is simple: technology. IT spending worldwide is
$1.5 trillion, and 70% is spent on software and services. About $20 billion is
spent on capturing information for IT systems.
As business process improvement (BPI) is increasing
in importance, the global economy is creating standards and a need for common
solutions. Additionally, e-discovery, the process in which electronic records
are sought and searched in the event of a civil or criminal legal case,
dictates that there must be standards and capabilities in compliance policies.
However, the issue is how to convert what we can easily see and understand into
something easily understood by a computer system.

year's conference here.
Cycle Faster B2B 2007 Crosses Finish Line At ARMA
Datacap and Partners Have Best Fundraising Effort
Throughout the ARMA Exposition in
Baltimore, October 7-9, Cycle Faster riders had been straining to beat the
two-minute mark in the 1-mile uphill time trial on the Cervelo racing cycle. By
the end of the second day, no one had posted a time faster than 2:05. Then a
lanky fellow named Jordan Cross, who works for REB Storage Systems, jumped on
and almost effortlessly posted a time of 1:47. It turns out his weekend hobby
is hill-climbing on a cycle! Once the two-minute mark was broken, others
followed. Tom Lewis of Atalasoft nailed a time of 1:49 and Andy Blank of
Archive America came in at 1:56.
For a donation
to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Cycle Faster time trials were open to
anyone on the Expo Floor and they attracted a lot of attention from ARMA
attendees, both hardcore cyclists and enthusiastic spectators. While riders
warmed up for the race and got accustomed to the gears, Datacap presented the
Cycle Faster story and highlighted the strengths of individual Cycle Faster
sponsors.
Cycle Faster sponsors at ARMA
included Fujitsu, Bowe Bell + Howell, EMC Captiva, Parascript, Canon,
Filebound, Kofax, DocuWare, and Kodak. Audiences
awaiting the next thrilling ride heard case studies featuring solutions by
Datacap and individual Cycle Faster partners. Then the sweating began.
Among Cycle Faster sponsors, in the
Men's Time Trials, Jaime Castillo of Canon and Jack Kaspersky
of Kodak scored a tie. Datacap will make two donations to the
Lance Armstrong Foundation in the name of each organization. Winner of the
Women's Time Trials was Juli Stratton of Kirkland & Ellis.
What was clear at ARMA is the
records management community is adopting imaging in a big way and many
organizations are now beginning to look at capture to get more value out of
their imaging systems. While compliance issues have been driving imaging
purchases, now return on investment is beginning to become important and that
is good news for Datacap and its partners.
Now ARMA members are familiar with
Datacap and its Cycle Faster partners and there's anticipation for the return
of Cycle Faster in 2008 at the AIIM Expo in Boston (March 3-6, 2008). We hope
to see you in Boston!
