Datacap and Cutting Edge Solutions Recognize KC Life For Capture Excellence

Insurance Company Honored During CES Customer Appreciation Day

Every year, Datacap VAR Cutting Edge Solutions hosts "Customer Appreciation Day," which includes a trip to Arrowhead Stadium to see a Kansas City Chiefs football game and a banquet. This year, on October 22, CES and Datacap used the occasion to recognize insurer KC Life for Excellence in Capture, and at the same time, everyone enjoyed a thrilling last-second win by the Chiefs over their division rival the San Diego Chargers.

Datacap and CES selected KC Life for the way they leveraged rules in Taskmaster to power their backfile conversion of thousands of policy documents. Brian Klenklen, Systems Engineer for KC Life, describes the application as one that's helping the company transition its document management strategy from microfiche to digital. It's a multi-step process, but the flexibility of Taskmaster rules helps them through all the phases.

"While the backfile conversion is going on, we're installing a Hyland OnBase repository," he says. "And then we'll apply Taskmaster to all incoming documents. Taskmaster helps us capture policy documents every step of the way. With each new change, we simply configure new rules."

Medical Claims Processors Beginning To Receive CMS Forms

New Health Insurance Form Requires Changes to Capture System

The new CMS 1500 medical claim is starting to arrive in the mailrooms of Datacap's health insurance customers. While mandatory conversion to the new design is slated for April 2, 2007, the new forms are now available for providers to submit and some are clearly doing so. The HCFA 1500 claim form was modified to incorporate the new National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers, as well as other data relating to HIPAA requirements. If you're a medical claim processor, it's time to plan your upgrade to accommodate the new form

Many Datacap customers have begun the process, either by engaging services to upgrade their application to capture the new layout, or by upgrading from Datacap Health Claim capture system (HCcs) to the rules-driven Taskmaster for Medical Claims.

Depending on how much customization has been done to the application, most Datacap customers have discovered that the cost to upgrade to Taskmaster for Medical Claims is about the same as adapting HCcs to the new form. Upgrading delivers the benefits of Datacap's unique reusable rules architecture, including greater flexibility to include other document types or make changes on the fly.

Tips and Tricks

Get Re-acquainted with the Resources of the Datacap Support Site

Every month, new reports are posted to the Technical Notes and News and Alerts sections, covering specific scenarios that just might be the kind of problem you're facing. If you run up against a problem that isn't covered in those categories, try the Knowledge Base, which presents fixes and suggestions in a FAQ format. The Knowledge Base is growing weekly, and if you come up with a working solution of your own, send it to support@datacap.com and it might be added to help others.

Datacap Partners With Visioneer

In October, Datacap announced a partnership with Visioneer, a leader in intelligent imaging scanners. The alliance facilitates Datacap's optimum support of the entire Visioneer Patriot product-line.

Visioneer and Xerox-branded products provide a family of hardware solutions for the distributed and desktop scanner markets as well as the mobile and remote business scanning and storage segments. The Patriot suite of Visioneer products includes the Patriot 430, 470, 680, 780 and NetScan 2000.

The Patriot series scans searchable PDFs and maintains the visual integrity of the original document, with a hidden searchable layer. This allows for low-cost conversion from paper to PDF, while permitting easy distribution and ability to search, link, select/copy and index the text.

"A partnership with a robust, flexible capture solution provider such as Datacap makes sense for our customers" said John Dexter, director of business development of Visioneer. "As the capture requirements of our customers become more demanding, we want to be sure we are integrated with the solutions that can meet those requirements."
