Protect Private Data With Image Redaction in Taskmaster

When processing data from forms, there are some data elements that may need to be protected from viewing by the general public. Health forms and financial applications are classic examples, where health conditions or social security numbers need to be concealed from those that process the forms. HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other government regulations carry strict penalties for violations of data privacy.

Datacap Taskmaster provides for fast and efficient redaction of images, which is configured using a few custom rules during field set-up. When a field is redacted, Taskmaster completely removes the field or area of the document from the image and replaces it with white or black. There is no way to alter the image afterwards to retrieve the data, which would be the case if it were simply an overlay on top of the image, so you can be secure that your data is protected.

Because redaction in Taskmaster is rules-based, there is additional flexibility for the end user. For example, if the data in a redacted field is a few characters longer than the redacted area, the Taskmaster verify operator can easily adjust and extend the redacted area, and Taskmaster will register the new, larger redacted area for the next document.

When using redaction, typically, an organization will build two capture streams in Taskmaster – one for the original document that is stored in a secure archive and another with the redacted fields for processing or posting in a public archive. If you need to protect data during the capture process or afterwards for publicly stored document images, rely on Taskmaster for flexible and secure redaction.
